In Alpes-Maritimes-French Riviera, good climate and appropriate geology allow to cultivate exotic crops such as oranges, lemons and even avocados. That was a good opportunity for Families for Positive Eating Program members to visit, last January, Jean-Noël Falcou, an organic citrus grower in Vallauris-Golfe-Juan.
Jean-Noël cultivates about fourty citrus varieties that the visitors have had the pleasure to discover and taste: avocados, clementines, tangerines, lime, blood oranges and other navels produced on the farm. The AMAP (a short production-consumption loop - CSA) of Mouans-Sartoux and the Fair Trade Association offer some of Jean-Noel’s products whose farm also makes processed and derived products such as jam, essential oils... And even the famous Orange tree flower water , a product that families will also learn how to process at a new workshop on farm in May.
Soon, Families of the Positive Eating Program will participate in a hands-on workshop on reducing food waste, another on decrypting labels, or a new series of cooking workshops to learn how to prepare balanced, healthy and cheaper meals, including vegetable proteins ... a rich and fun program for young and old!
